Bodegas Piqueras has once again won two important awards at the Brussels World Wine Competition. In the 2022 competition, our Castillo de Almansa Selección 2017 and Piqueras VS 2018 wines won a gold medal and a silver medal, respectively.
The 2017 vintage of Castillo de Almansa Selección won a further gold medal in the organic wine competition. The award comes three years after Bodegas Piqueras achieved its landmark victory in the competition, winning the Grand Gold medal in 2019. All of this continues to confirm the potential of our Castillo de Almansa wines, our best-selling range in international terms.
In fact, Piqueras VS consolidated its reputation in winning this silver medal at the Brussels competition, considering that this is only its third vintage, yet here it is once again among the medals, garlanded by one of the most widely recognised and influential wine competitions in the world.
Juan Pablo Cantos, head winemaker at Bodegas Piqueras, highlights the significance of continuing to win prizes in this competition, as it shows “that we continue along a similar trajectory to recent years, continuing to win prizes in Brussels, with a special mention for the Grand Gold we won in 2019 with Castillo de Almansa Selección 2014″.
The Concours Mondial de Bruxelles 2022 wine tastings took place between 19 and 21 May, with over 7,300 wines from more than 40 different countries participating.
