FOUR GENERATIONS
We are a 4th generation family-owned winery founded in 1915 by the Piqueras family. Bodegas Piqueras is located in Almansa, in the south-east of Spain, 60 km from Alicante and the Mediterranean Sea.
Our vineyards are located in a wine producing area of D.O. Almansa characterised by soil that is low in fertility and receives little rain which, together with a semi-arid continental climate, allows us to obtain wines that are deep in colour and offer great aromatic richness.
The winery has remained in the family since it was founded by our great-grandfather Luis in 1915. Our history and tradition are reflected in the way we tend the vineyards, and in the quality wines produced for bottling and export to over 45 countries.
The wines of Bodegas Piqueras are notable for the use of indigenous grape varieties in almost all the wines. We work mainly with the Garnacha Tintorera and Monastrell varieties, grape varieties that are native to the D.O. Almansa area.
We have been growing from generation to generation, dedicated to the cultivation of vines, to continuous improvement in quality, alongside the careful selection of casks and the production and marketing of wines that are true to themselves and their place of origin.
Our main objective is to offer high quality wines by carefully overseeing the entire winemaking process, from choosing the vines to the design of the labels, always maintaining and reflecting our origins and history.
We have been making wine with a strong family character for more than 100 years. Our wines, improved over four generations, reflect the essence of our land and its people, while being modern, elegant and expressive.
Our Philosophy
At Bodegas Piqueras we make wine that comes from the heart. Quality is our watchword throughout the winemaking process, and we monitor it very closely. We have grown a lot in recent decades, but we still keep a close eye on production, as we always have, while responding to the unpredictability of winemaking, as all good winemakers must.
We believe that a good wine is born in the vineyard, which is why we meticulously select the vines, carefully oversee pruning, and monitor vine health and quality control.
We have state-of-the-art machinery and technology to assist us in the process of harvesting, pressing, filtering, bottling and labelling. But to listen to the wine, to feel its development, to create the perfect blends for each vintage, we cannot rely on machines; we have to be there in person every day, in body and mind, to choose just the right moment to pick the grapes and make the wine. That is why patience, presence, knowledge and a lot of heart are needed.
We remain humble in the face of nature and the uncontrollable factors that condition our work year after year. We want to travel far, but we never want to lose sight of where we come from and what our ancestors have taught us. We continue to apply the spirit of our predecessors and their timeless knowledge, while at the same time incorporating new techniques and adapting to new generations and the trends and tastes of the market.
